Currently Rescue Pit has three main community based grants that our funds go to
- Rescue Pit Emergency Medical Community Fund: Rescue Pit is committed to setting aside 5% of our quarterly donations to help assist families faced with these tough decisions. The Emergency Medical Community Fund will be used towards medical costs for life-saving treatment, voluntary spay/neuters, or other procedures approved by the Board. This grant is NOT breed specific and applies to dogs of any breed. The application is available here.
- Rochester Community Animal Clinic Medical Fund: We are supporting our local low cost veterinary clinic by providing additional grant funds to be used for pit bull type dogs requiring medication and treatment outside of their owners financial ability. Examples of how this fund is used: additional antibiotics, pain medications, and preventatives during their surgical appointments. This grant is awarded directly from RCAC.
- Humane Training and Home Retention Grant: We work closely with our local positive reinforcement trainers to provide behavioral support for pit bull type dogs. The funds of this grant helps owners with financial concerns to cover training related to trying to keep dogs in homes such as reactivity, fear aggression, separation anxiety etc. The goal of this grant is to help dogs stay in their loving homes. This grant is awarded directly from our training partners.
