Frequently Asked Questions

We remain committed to our mission of making a difference and will continue to advocate for pit bulls in every way we can. Our new focus as of 2025 is providing resources for pit bull owners, offering training, guidance, and education, supporting pet parents in need and building a stronger community for all dog lovers.
  • Currently Rescue Pit has three main community based grants that our funds go to
    • Rescue Pit Emergency Medical Community Fund: Rescue Pit is committed to setting aside 5% of our quarterly donations to help assist families faced with these tough decisions. The Emergency Medical Community Fund will be used towards medical costs for life-saving treatment, voluntary spay/neuters, or other procedures approved by the Board. This grant is NOT breed specific and applies to dogs of any breed.
    • Rochester Community Animal Clinic Medical Fund: We are supporting our local low cost veterinary clinic by providing additional grant funds to be used for pit bull type dogs requiring medication and treatment outside of their owners financial ability. Examples of how this fund is used: additional antibiotics, pain medications, and preventatives during their surgical appointments. This grant is awarded directly from RCAC.
    • Humane Training and Home Retention Grant: We work closely with our local positive reinforcement trainers to provide behavioral support for pit bull type dogs. The funds of this grant helps owners with financial concerns to cover training related to trying to keep dogs in homes such as reactivity, fear aggression, separation anxiety etc. The goal of this grant is to help dogs stay in their loving homes. This grant is awarded directly from our training partners.
  • Additionally, Rescue Pit also stays committed to supporting local rescue groups through one-time grants intended to help offset medical costs of dogs being pulled from the local shelters.
We only have a small group of volunteers that are still working behind the scenes of our board. We appreciate the support, but more so the patience as we make updates in alignment with our current focuses, commitments, and abilities. Please bear with us during this transitional time.
The best place to keep up to date with Rescue Pit happenings and what we are doing for our community is to follow us on our social media including Facebook and Instagram.
